BC HIGHLIGHTS
·Junior Joe Cronin was 3-for-4 on the day with his first home run and first triple of the season. He tallied two RBIs and scored twice.
·Junior Chris Shaw hit his first career grand slam in the eighth, his third home run of the season. He extended his on-base streak to 32 games and has tallied a hit in 30 of the last 35 games, dating back to last season.
·Junior RHP John Nicklas recorded his first save of the season and the fifth of his career, tying for seventh in BC record books. He pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless and hitless relief, striking out two and did not allowing a walk.
·Sophomore RHP Justin Dunn tallied his second win of the year with a five-inning outing, striking out three and allowing just one run, five hits and two walks.
KEY PLAYS
·Villanova tallied a run in the eighth to lessen BC's lead to one but the Eagles rallied and scored seven runs in the bottom of the inning to take the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· The Eagles took an early 1-0 lead in the first as freshman Jake Palomaki led off with an infield single and stole second. Cronin plated him with a high chopper over the head of the shortstop.
·Cronin added to the Eagles' lead with a lead-off home run to start the third. He launched his first of the season over the fence in left to put BC up, 2-0.
·Junior Stephen Sauter scored in the fourth on an RBI by Palomaki. The catcher led off with a single, stole second and moved to third on a long fly by off the bat of sophomore Johnny Adams. Palomaki brought him in on a groundout to second.
· The Wildcats scored one in the fifth to cut the lead to two. Emmanuel Morris doubled with one down and after a walk, moved to third on a grounder to second. Senior second baseman Blake Butera ranged over to get to a ball that looked like it was getting through to save a run. Todd Czinege singled to the deepest part of the infield at short to score Morris and with runners at the corners, Butera got to another ball that looked as if it would make it through to the to end the inning.
· Villanova made it a one-run game in the eighth with senior LHP Nick Poore on the hill. Adam Goss singled to center, moved to second on a wild pitch, and after Poore tallied a K, landed on third on a groundout. He scored on a passed ball. Nicklas entered the game and got a fly ball to end the inning.
·The Eagles got an insurance run in the bottom of the inning, chasing closer Chris Haggerty from the game, but did not stop there. Sophomore Michael Strem led off with a double and with two outs, Nova intentionally walked Sauter to put runners at the corners. Adams plated Strem with a single to pad the BC lead, 4-2. Senior pinch runner Nick Colucci and Adams moved into scoring position on steals and John Santoianni walked Palomaki to load the bases. Butera singled to score Colucci and new pitcher Joe Siringo walked Cronin to reload the bases. Shaw crushed one over the right-field fence to clear the bases for the Eagles.

·Redshirt sophomore RHP Luke Fernandes retired all six batters he faced in his two innings of relief work in the sixth and seventh.
· Strem tallied his eighth double of the season in the eighth, which is half of his hit total (16).
· Butera and Shaw have reached base safely in the first 11 games of the season.
· Sauter has a hit or RBI in five of the six games he has played in 2015, racking up five hits and three RBIs, including two hits today.
