· Sophomore Johnny Adams hit his first career triple in the sixth inning to plate BC's first run of the game.
·Sophomore Michael Strem hit his ninth double of the season. Nine of his 19 hits are two-baggers and he entered the game tied for second in the ACC.
KEY PLAYS
· The Eagles trailed by two going into the ninth, but timely hitting and patience at the plate allowed BC to tie the game. Murphy came through with a 123 ninth to force the game into extras.
· Junior LHP Jesse Adams put one on with a walk in the 10th and with two down, gave up back-to-back single to surrender the walk-off win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
·The Cardinals were the first to score, putting up one in the first. On the 10th pitch of his at bat, Sutton Whiting laced one just inside the first-base line to the corner in right for a triple. He scored on a hard-hit grounder to second.
·Louisville added two more in the third. After sophomore Nick Sciortino caught Whiting stealing for the second out, Nick Solak drew a walk and stole second. With two outs, Zach Lucas doubled to left to score a run and Lucas advanced to third when junior left fielder Logan Hoggarth bobbled the ball. Brendan McKay followed it up with a single to right to make it 3-0.
·The Eagles got two back in the sixth to cut the Cardinals' lead to one. Sciortino walked to lead off the inning and Adams came through with a triple to right center to score BC's first run. Freshman Jake Palomaki singled to short to plate Adams for the second run before advancing to third on two groundouts. Funkhouser got Strem on a popup before the Eagles could tie the game.
·Ryan Summers put Louisville back up two with a two-out solo shot over the left-field fence after senior LHP Nick Poore retired the first two he faced by way of the K. After a walk, junior Chris Shaw ended the inning with a running grab in right.
·The Eagles tied the game in the ninth. With RHP Lincoln Henzman on the mound and one down, Strem doubled to right center and moved to third on a wild pitch. Junior Joe Cronin brought him home with a single up the middle to make it a one-run game. The Cardinals went to LHP Drew Harrington, who walked freshman Donovan Casey and Hoggarth to load the bases. Sciortino drew a walk to bring in the tying run. Louisville went back to the pen for RHP Zack Burdi, who struck out recorded two quick outs to end the inning.
·Murphy shut down the Cardinals in the bottom of the ninth, but BC went in order in the top of the 10th. Jesse Adams came in to pitch and immediately got a fly out before walking McKay. After recording another fly ball, pinch runner Mike White came in to pinch run for McKay and landed on second on a single by Danny Rosenbaum. Devin Hairston, who was 0-for-4 on the afternoon, singled to right field. Shaw's throw to the plate was close, but White beat it to win the game for Louisville.
