· Junior Chris Shaw knocked his second home run on a solo shot in the eighth. He has reached base safely in the last 28 games and recorded at least one hit in 27 of the last 31 games, dating back to 2014.
· Sophomore Michael Strem extended his career-long hit streak to eight games, dating back to last season.
· Senior Blake Butera drew a walk, bringing his career total to 96, which ties for third in BC record books.
KEY PLAYS
· The Tigers scored one in the first and never looked back, scoring at least one run in every inning but the seventh. The Eagles used eight pitchers in the 14-run loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· The Tigers were able to score early, tallying one in the first with two down. Mark Laird reached on a fielder’s choice moved to second on a groundout and was off on a full-count pitch to Chris Chinea. Chinea singled to bring in Laird.
· LSU added three in the second as Andrew Stevenson led off with a triple and scored on a wild pitch before senior LHP Nick Poore could settle in and tally two outs. With two on, Alex Bregman doubled to clear the bases. Sophomore RHP Justin Dunn finished the inning with a strikeout looking.
· Dunn got touched up in the third, allowing two runs. With one down and a runner on first, Stevenson smashed his second triple to make it 5-0 Tigers. He scored on a grounder to short.
· The Tigers stretched the lead to 8-0 with two solo shots in the fourth, one by Bregman to lead off the inning and one by Kade Scivicque with two down.
· BC got on the board in the fifth as senior Blake Butera notched a two-out single and junior Joe Cronin brought him home on a double to right center.
· LSU got the run back in the bottom of the inning with sophomore RHP Bobby Skogsbergh on the hill. Kramer Robertson singled, stole second and scored on a double by Jared Foster.
· Scivicque hit his second home run of the game with a man on in the sixth and redshirt sophomore RHP Luke Fernandes on the mound to make it an 11-1 game.
· Shaw blasted a solo shot into the right-field bleachers to start the eighth, making it 11-2.
· The Tigers made it 16-2 in the eighth on five hits and an error. With redshirt freshman LHP Kevin Connor on the hill, Michael Papierski doubled down the left line to score a run. Freshman RHP Brian Rapp entered the game with two on and gave up a double down the line to score two more. A groundout, single and double scored two before the Eagles went back to the bullpen for freshman LHP Carmen Giampetruzzi. After a walk to load the bases, Giampetruzzi forced a popup, which second baseman Butera caught it in shallow right field to end the inning.

· Junior RHP John Nicklas tallied a 123 seventh, marking the only time the Tigers did not score in the game.
· Connor saw his first career action as an Eagle, throwing a third of an inning in the eighth and allowing two hits, a walk and three runs.
· Freshman Jake Palomaki tallied a hit, his third in two games after recording his first career start in the first game of the doubleheader on Friday.
· Juniors Gabriel Hernandez and Logan Hoggarth were held hitless after tallying at least one in the first six games of the season.
UP NEXT
The Eagles will travel to Port Charlotte, Fla., to play in the Snowbird Classic Feb. 27-March 2. They will take on Nebraska-Omaha, North Dakota State, Kansas and Villanova before the annual exhibition game with the Red Sox in Fort Myers on March 3.
