Meehan, Dowd Named To All-ACC Team

Two members of the Boston College women's soccer team – McKenzie Meehan and Hayley Dowd - have earned 2015 All-ACC accolades, announced by the conference on Thursday morning. Meehan was named to the first team for the first time, while Dowd earned second team honors for the second consecutive season.

Meehan, a junior from Glocester, Rhode Island, was a second-team All-ACC selection in 2013 and missed the 2014 season with an injury. As a rookie she made the All-ACC Freshman team.

The Eagles forward has had a record setting season as she finished as the ACC's leading goal scorer (16) and points leader (35). Meehan, an All-ACC honor roll honoree, scored a goal in 11 of the 19 games played this season. She became the Eagles all-time leading goal scorer in a 2-1 win over in October. She now has 45 career goals and is second on the all-time point list with 95 points.

In May of 2015, Meehan earned her undergraduate degree in economics. She is currently working on a master's degree.

Dowd, a native of Peabody, Mass., was second on the team in scoring as she compiled 12 goals, two assists for 26 points. The Eagles forward made the second team last season when she led the ACC in goals scored after the regular season with 15 goals.

Dowd, an ACC Honor Roll honoree, is moving up the program career list as she is now sixth in goals scored with 32 and tenth in points with 73 total points. She finished fourth in the ACC in goals scored and sixth in points. Dowd scored a point in 12 of the 19 games this season. She had four game-winning goals to give her 10 in her career.

Boston College finished the 2015 season with an 11-6-2 overall record and a seventh place finish in the ACC at 5-3-2. BC's current RPI is at 34.
