
Eagles To Host Holy Cross on Wednesday

Boston College women's basketball will host long-time rival Holy Cross on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. It will be the 37th game between the two teams. Fans can purchase tickets at the gate or order online at bceagles.com.
The Eagles are coming off a, 55-48, victory over Maine on Sunday afternoon. Junior Kelly Hughes sealed the win with four consecutive foul shots in the final minute of play. She finished with a team-high 13 points. Senior Nicole Boudreau pitched in with seven points and six rebounds while freshman Mariella Fasoula had eight points and five boards.
Holy Cross is currently 0-2 as the Crusaders lost to UMass on Sunday, 74-60. Senior Raquel Scott had 13 points and nine boards and Infiniti Thomas-Waheed pitched in with 12 points and five boards. The Crusaders opened up the season with a tough overtime loss to Big Ten opponent, Penn State, 86-82. Scott had a career-high 36 points and 11 rebounds.
BC vs. HOLY CROSS
- The Eagles and Crusaders have played 36 times. BC leads the overall series, 27-9. The two teams first played in 1978-79 season with BC earning an, 72-41, victory.
- Last season Boston College fell to the Crusaders, 80-64, at the Hart Center in Worcester. It was the first loss to the Crusaders since the 1997 season. Prior to that loss, Boston College had won 16 consecutive games.
INTERNATIONAL INFLUENCE
- Boston College has added an international flavor to the roster with the additions of sophomore Martina Mosetti from Italy, Ella Awobajo from Nigeria and Mariella Fasoula from Greece. Next year, Georgia Pineau, a native of Australia, will join the program.
- Martina "Marti" Mosetti is a sophomore point guard. A native of Trieste, Mosetti started 16-of-30 games last year. She averaged 4.4 points and 2.2 assists per game. In two games this season, she is averaging 28.5 minutes per game and has committed only one turnover.
- Redshirt freshman Ella Awobajo, a native of Kaduna, Nigeria, sat out last season. In her first two games as an Eagle, Awobajo leads the team in rebounding (7.5 rpg.) and steals (5).
- Rookie center Mariella "Fas" Fasoula is a native of Athens, Greece. At 6-foot-4, Fasoula gives BC another low post presence. In her first two games, Fasoula is averaging 9.5 points and 4.0 rebounds a game.
FREE THROWS?
- This is BC's first 2-0 start since the 2010-11 season.
- Junior Kelly Hughes leads BC in scoring (17.5) and three's made (9). She hit her first three attempts in Sunday's win over Maine.
- The Boston College bench has outscored both opponents this season, 45-18. Rookie Mariella Fasoula leads the subs in scoring with 9.5 points per game average while Kailey Edwards is averaging 5.5 points per game.
- The team is averaging 16.0 assists per game. In the season opener at Providence, BC had 19 assists.
THIS DAY IN HISTORY
- On Nov. 18, 2000, Boston College defeated Michigan State, 63-61, at the Chevrolet Classic Championship Game in East Lansing, Michigan. Junior Rachel Byars was the Tournament MVP as she scored 48 points in two games. She also hit two freebies with 1.6 to play to seal the win in the final game. Then rookie Amber Jacobs made the All-Tournament team with 14 points in the final game.
NEXT UP
- Boston College will hit the road for four consecutive games. BC will play at Boston University on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. The Eagles will then head to the Bahamas to play Utah on Nov. 27 and Oklahoma on Nov. 28. The first week of December, the team will play at Purdue on Thursday, Dec. 3 and then return home to host Hartford on Dec. 9.
