Frosh 8 Boat Cruises To Victory at Foot of the Charles

BC tallies three top-three finishers in final event of season

BOSTON - Two novice boats took first and third place in their respective race while BC took home an additional second place finish in the Open Four to highlight the team's performance Saturday morning at the Foot of the Charles Regatta on the Eagles home course.Â
Leading the Maroon and Gold to a first place finish in the Novice 8+ race with a time of 14:53.8 was Lauren Hansford (Coxswain), Meaghan McDonald (Stroke), Isabelle Daellenbach, Madison Cann, Jessica Zettlemoyer, Grace Brzozowski, Katherine DeVlieger, Elizabeth Barrett and Paige Vignone (Bow). The boat finished more than 27 seconds ahead of the second place team from Boston University. The Eagles Novice 8 "B" boat finished four seconds behind the Terriers boat, placing third with a time of 15:29.4. Competing with the "B" boat was Coxswain: Lauren Michelson (Coxswain), Julia Barrett (Stroke), Madeleine Diskin, Kelsey Lally, Gretchen Ray, Jillian Raplee, Christy Verhoog, Olivia Rogus and Jamie Bange (Bow).
The Eagles also took second in the Open Four event, finishinig with a time of 17:11.4, 17 seconds behind the winning boat from rival Boston University. The quartet consisted of Danielle Eng (Coxswain), Rebecca Suthard (Stroke), Megan Lydon, Suzanne Schultz and Elena Batten (Bow).
The three boats competing in the Varsity 8 event for BC finished 7th, 15th and 20th respectively. The "A" boat crossed at 23:07.2, just over one minute after the first place boat from Northeastern. The "B" boat finished at 24:19.2 while the "C" boat rounded out the field of 23, placing 20th with a time of 25:35.2.
Competing in the "A" boat was Kylie Hasegawa, Makenzy Brown, Megan Carney, Haley Clarke, Grace Grunau, Catherine Goldberg, Caroline Henry, Caitlin Yaccarino and Michaela Jaffe.Â
The "B" boat consisted of C: Â Anna Tenzinger, Claire Orzel, Elizabeth McKernan, Michela Karrash, Amanda Jenkins, Caitlain McDonald, Haley Bower, Morgan Rann and Jessica Ferrante while the Eagles had Elizabeth Waltman, Kylie O'Connor, Claire Mason, Hilary Gould, Kelly Bungard, Jacqueline McDonnell, Elizabeth Calder, Laura Mazziotta and Victoria Mulkern competing in the "C" boat.Â
Saturday's event concludes the fall season for the women's rowing team. They will return to action in March when they open up the competitive season with a tri-meet in New Jersey with Saint John's and the University of Pennsylvania.Â
