Boston College defeated Providence, 67-41, in the season opener on the road behind 22 points from Kelly Hughes. The Eagles junior hit 6-for-8 from the three-point arc in the win. Freshman Mariella Fasoula chipped in with 11 points, while junior transfer Kailey Edwards had 11 points and four assists. BC will return home on Sunday to host Maine at 1 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets on game day.

- Junior Kelly Hughes hit 6-for-8 from the three-point arc and led the team with 22 points.
- Freshman Mariella Fasoula chipped in with 11 points, while Kailey Edwards had 11 points and four assists.
- Sophomore Katie Quandt had eight points and five boards in 19 minutes.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles opened sluggish and fell behind 4-0 in the first two minutes of the game. Turnovers and fouls plague BC early. A 9-0 run at the end of the period gave BC an 18-16 lead. The run was sparked by a three-pointer from Kelly Hughes and four points from Mariella Fasoula.
- The run continued into the second stanza. BC ran off eight straight points, six from Kailey Edwards to go up, 26-16. Jaovana Nogic stopped the bleeding for Providence when she hit a deep three-pointer at 5:42 in the period. BC took a 32-19 halftime lead by shooting 46.7 percent from the floor, 50 percent from long range and scoring 13 points off PC turnovers.
- BC's lead grew to 20 points in a flurry sparked by two great assists and a steal by Alexa Coulombe. She set up Katie Quandt with two lay-ups and stole the ball which led to a three-pointer by Kelly Hughes – BC 45, PC 25.
- The fourth quarter Boston College continued to push the tempo. Two three's by Hughes, a layup by Fasoula and a mid-range jumper by Martina Mosetti pushed BC's lead to 57-33. The Eagles defense swarmed and forced a number of turnovers and rushed shots from Providence.
- Ella Awobajo earned her first start
- Kelly Hughes hit her first three-pointer with 31 seconds to play in the first period which gave BC a two point lead. She was 3-for-4 from the arc in the first half. She finished 6-for-8 from long range.
- BC outscored PC, 14-3, in the second period.
- Both teams had 18 rebounds in the first half. Katie Quandt and Ella Awobajo had four rebounds apiece. BC won the battle of the boards, 37-27.
- The bench battle was won by Boston College, 29-14.
- BC shot 52.8 percent from the floor for the game, 60 percent in the final two periods
- The team had 19 assists, with freshman Stephanie Jones and redshirt junior Kailey Edwards leading the Eagles with four apiece.
