Women’s Basketball Announces Class of 2016

Eagles add length to the roster with four players 6-feet and over.
The Boston College women's basketball team received four commitments for the 2016 class, announced head coach Erik Johnson. BC is excited to welcome forwards Emma Guy from Penfield, New York, Jasmine Taylor from Springfield, Virginia, Shannon Ryan from Plattsburgh, New York and Georgia Pineau from Australia.
"This class obviously brings us a much needed boost in size and length. Each of these players is passionate about Boston College and is ready to give their heart and soul toward making a positive impact on our program,'' said Erik Johnson of the incoming class.
Emma Guy – 6-foot-2 – Forward – Penfield – Penfield, N.Y.
Plays at Penfield High School … Team captain as a junior and senior … Averaged 15.5 points, 9.8 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.3 blocks a game in the 2014-15 season … Shot 57 percent from the floor and 59 percent from the foul line … Named All-Greater Rochester … Section V All-Star … A two-time All-League first team honoree … Averaged 12.8 points, 4.0 assists and 3.4 steals a game as a sophomore … Plays for the City Rocks and Coach Keith Danzy.
"Emma is a physical forward whose rebounding and finishing skills around the basket have advanced to a high level already. She will make us tougher in the paint and on the boards, and her mobility will translate well to the fast pace of the ACC,'' said Johnson of Guy.
Jasmine Taylor – 6-foot-0 – Guard/Forward – Bishop O'Connell, Springfield, Va.
Plays for coach Aggie McCormick-Dix at Bishop O'Connell High School in Arlington, Virginia … Averaged 14.5 points per game … Named first team All-State honoree in 2014; All-Team Tina Thompson in 2014 … Played one year at West Springfield High in Springfield, Virginia … VISAA Division I 1st-team All-State in 2015 … Played for the Fairfax Stars.
"Jasmine is an athletic slasher and defender who will bring more length to our wing position. She is also a competitor and leader who will continue to push our team culture forward,'' said Johnson about the 6-foot wing from Virginia.
Shannon Ryan – 6-4 – Center – Plattsburgh, N.Y.
Plays for Coach Will Becker at Tabor Academy … Played at Beekmantown Central in N.Y. from 2001-14 … Helped Tabor Academy win the NEPSAC Conference in 2015 … Named to the NEPSAC A All-Star team … Averaged a double-double – 18.3 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game … Named Athlete of the Week at Tabor twice in 2014-15 … While at Beekman Central, she scored her 1,000 career point as a sophomore … Led her team to the Section 7 Championship … All-CVAC team in 2012, 2013 and 2014 … also is on the rowing team at Tabor … Played for the Northern Border Rampage, the Lake Champlain Lakers and in 2013-14 played for the Philly Belles.
"Shannon is a skilled and mobile 6-4 center who possesses remarkable touch around the basket and out to the perimeter. Her ability to catch and finish in transition and on the move will mesh well with our style of play,'' said Johnson about Ryan.
Georgia Pineau – 6-1 – Forward – Caulfield Grammar School – Victoria, Australia
A three-time league MVP at the Australia School Nationals … Advanced to the Australian School Nationals in 2012, 2013 and 2015 … Plays for the Nunawading Spectres in the Australian League … In 11 games, she averaged 10.2 minutes, shot 45.5 percent from the floor … Plays for the Victorian State team that won the National Championship in 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015 … Also competes in rowing and swims.
"Georgia is a versatile forward who plays tough and physical around the basket, and also possesses an emerging perimeter game that will make her a match-up nightmare for opponents. Georgia is a relentless worker whose competitiveness has made her into a proven winner,'' said Johnson about Pineau, the fourth international player to join the Eagles roster.
