Leading the Eagles were Katty Workman and Sol Calvete, who each tallied 11 kills, while Madisen Lydon picked up a game-high 12 kills in the win. The game was also the team's annual "Pink Game" which featured pink warm-ups for the Eagles prior to the game and pink lines on the court to raise awareness for breast cancer. In addition, the Eagles, with help from two local high school volleyball teams, presented a check totaling more than $4,500 to the Side-Out Foundation, which helps individuals with breast cancer regain control of their lives.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set One:
After splitting the first two points, Boston College went on an 8-1 run, led by the efforts of Camille Oemcke, who tallied two service aces in the streak of seven straight serves for the freshman setter. Following a bad set and an Oemcke service ace, McKenna Goss and Anna Skold each recorded a kill while the defense chipped in and caused a Tigers attack error. Later in the set, the Maroon and Gold finished on a 10-4 run behind Goss' four kills in the frame and an additional two from Skold to take the 1-0 lead.
Set Two:
The Eagles continued to bring pressure in the second set as they battled back from an early 3-0 deficit. After evening the score at seven, and tying it up at both eight-all and 10-all, Boston College used a Katty Workman kill to jump out in front for good in the second set. BC began another lengthy run, this time 9-1, to jump out ahead 20-11, before a forced attack error and a kill from Brittany Pavich, one of her two on the night, finished off Clemson in the second set, 25-18
Set Three:
The Eagles completed the sweep in the third frame, defeating Clemson by a score of 25-16 behind six kills from Katty Workman and an additional five from Calvete. After the Tigers erased an early deficit, Boston College came back with a run of 7-3 before ending on an 8-4 run to take the set 25-16. Boston College went to 2-9 in the ACC with the win while Clemson fell to 0-11 in conference play.
Coach Quote
"I've said it all season that this group we have does not quit. We've got a level of personal character that was really on display, not just tonight, but in the last couple of weeks. Losing close set and still being able to come back in sets and focus in practice and prepare, they just don't give up. I think that is what you saw here tonight." Chris Campbell following win over Clemson
UP NEXT:
Boston College continues their home stand on Sunday when they host Georgia Tech. The 12 noon game against the Yellow Jackets will be the second time this season the two squads have faced off.
