Meehan Named CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team
October 29, 2015 | Women's Soccer
Junior McKenzie Meehan has been named CoSIDA Academic All-District first team as announced this afternoon. Meehan will now be on the final ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team.
The Eagles forward is coming off one of her most successful weeks as a member of the women's soccer team. She was named the ACC and NSCAA Player of the Week after leading Boston College to two consecutive conference victories. She scored the overtime goal in a 2-1 victory against Wake Forest on Oct. 22. That Sunday Meehan had two goals and two assists in a 5-4 comeback overtime victory against Miami. She scored the game-winner just two minutes into overtime.
Meehan, a native of Glocester, Rhode Island, currently leads the ACC and is sixth in the country in goals scored (15). She is also No. 1 in the ACC and ninth in the country in points scored (33). She now has five game-winning goals to give her 15 for her career. She is just one game-winning goal away from tying the program record set in 2010 by Brooke Knowlton.
It's been an amazing season for the Meehan after missing 2014 with a season-ending injury. Meehan, who graduated in May of 2015, is currently working on her master's degree. She is a three-time Athletic Director's Award for Academic Achievement and an ACC honor roll honoree.
Meehan and the Boston College Eagles (11-6-1, 5-3-1 ACC) will play the final regular season game on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m. at Florida State. The game will be broadcast on the regional sports network (NESN in New England).
