BC HIGHLIGHTS
- The BC defense was stellar once again, allowing just 10 points, causing five turnovers and recording seven sacks, the second most in BC program history.Â
- Senior Steven Daniels recorded a career-high four tackles for a loss of 24 yards and tied a career-high with two sacks
- Junior John Johnson blocked a punt block, the third of the season for the Eagles, and freshman Elijah Robinson tallied his first career points by running it into the end zone.
- Freshman Jeff Smith recorded his fifth rushing touchdown in the third quarter to make it a three-point game.
KEY MOMENTS
- BC forced its fifth turnover of the game, a fumble with just over two minutes to play, giving the Eagles the ball back and a chance to score. The Louisville defense sacked redshirt freshman Troy Flutie twice, turning the ball over on downs and dashing the Eagles' hopes.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cardinals were the first to get on the board, scoring on their second drive in the first quarter. Lamar Jackson rushed in from the four-yard line with 2:27 to play in the quarter on third-and-goal on a seven-play, 48-yard drive.
- Louisville capitalized on a BC turnover to make it 14-0 in the second quarter with just over 10 minutes to play. Smith was sacked for a loss of 13 yards and fumbled. Sheldon Rankins recovered at the BC 46-yard line and ran it in for the score.
- The Eagles made it a seven-point game when Johnson blocked Joshua Appleby's punt at Louisville's 45-yard line and Robinson recovered the ball and returned it 12 yards for his first career score.
- On the Cards' next drive, Jeremy Smith started with a 49-yard run and then the BC defense held strong as Louisville could not log another first down. John Wallace made a 34-yard field goal to make it a 10-point lead with just under three minutes to play.
- At the end of the first half, on second-and-10 at the Louisville 44, Jackson threw a long ball, which senior Justin Simmons intercepted to keep any more points off the board.
- The Eagles made it a three-point game with just over three minutes to go in the third quarter as senior Connor Wujciak forced Smith to fumble at the Louisville 42-yard line and sophomore Harold Landry picked it up and ran it back 34 yards to the eight. On second-and-goal, Smith kept it on an eight-yard run and scored to make it 17-14.
- The two defenses took over in the fourth quarter as the two teams played to a scoreless quarter.Â
