NEWTON, Mass. - Sophomore Mikaela Rix scored three goals, but No. -/15 Boston College lost to Connecticut, 13-8, on a rain-soaked Newton Campus Lacrosse Field on Wednesday evening.
The Eagles (2-2, 0-0 ACC) used a 3-0 run to open the second half to take their first lead of the game at 8-7, but the Huskies (2-0, 0-0 BE) responded with six straight goals to close the game and earn the win.
Junior Cali Ceglarski recorded a goal, an assist, three caused turnovers, and three draw controls while sophomore Covie Stanwick registered two goals and two assists.
Carly Palmucci paced UConn with four goals while Lauren Kahn and Kacey Pippitt each had three.
The Huskies scored the game's first two goals before Rix rushed into the circle and connected on a shot to make it 2-1 just over 10 minutes into the game. After two more Connecticut goals, BC scored two of their own to pull within 4-3 with just over 11 minutes remaining in the half. Rix scored the first goal before Stanwick found the back of the net off a feed from Ceglarski.
Inside of the last 10 minutes of the first half, UConn outscored BC, 3-2, to bring a 7-5 lead into halftime. During that stretch, junior Moira Barry and Ceglarski - off a Stanwick assist - scored for the Eagles.

Rix opened the second stanza's scoring off a free position shot before senior Brooke Blue connected on a shot after receiving a pass from Stanwick. Stanwick closed the run on a goal from a free position shot.
The Huskies countered with six unanswered goals to create the final margin. UConn's Palmucci scored twice during the run.
