Boston, Mass. - Boston College lost to archrival No. 11 Boston University, 17-10, on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles tied the score early, but could not hold on to tally a win. They fell to 2-6 on the season, while the Terriers improved to 7-2.
It took the Terriers only 31 seconds to score the first goal of the game, but the Eagles came right back as junior captain Jenna McCabe fired a low shot past goalie Rachel Klein less than one minute later.
BU netted three straight goals to go up 4-1, but again, the Eagles came back as junior Maura Mahoney, freshman Jill Rekart and sophomore Mary Stinson recorded scores. Stinson's goal marked the first of her career. With 20 minutes to play, the score was tied 4-4 with 20:25 to play.
It would the last time the Eagles would be even with the Terriers. BU nailed four goals in a row before Mahoney could notch her second of the day. McCabe and Mahoney connected for the second time with 12:43 left in the first half. Junior Emily Hannigan caused a turnover in Eagle territory and carried the ball down field into the scoring zone. She scored on a free position shot to bring the Eagles within two.

Junior Lauren Fitzpatrick nailed the first goal of the second half and then Mahoney found the back of the net to give the Eagles their eighth goal. BC's tight defense held BU scoreless for the first 15 minutes of the second half. With 15:03 left in the game, Terrier Xan Weitzel snapped her team's scoring drought. It was followed by two more BU goals in seven minutes.
McCabe and Mahoney each notched another goal before time expired in the game. The Terriers added two to their total as well. The Eagles managed to score four goals on only nine shots in the second half.
