ATLANTA. Ga. - After beginning the ACC schedule with a sweep of Duke University last weekend, the Eagles headed back on the road looking to keep their winning ways going, but dropped a 10-0 decision to Georgia Tech yesterday at Russ Chandler Stadium. The loss drops the Eagles' overall record to 5-7-1 and 3-1 in conference play. Georgia Tech improves to 10-9 overall and 2-2 in ACC action.
BC could not muster any offense off of starter David Duncan as he would throw a complete game shutout, surrendering only four hits along the way. Duncan would retire the first 12 batters he faced before surrendering a single to Eric Campbell to lead off the fifth inning.
The Yellow Jackets took control of the game in the third inning as they would explode for six runs off of four hits and a pair of errors by the Eagles to take a 6-0 lead. That would be more than enough run support for Duncan, who pitched the first complete game of his career.
Georgia Tech would add a run in the sixth and then three more in the seventh off of BC reliever James MacDonald. Boggan took the loss for the Eagles, his first of the season, giving up six runs, only one of which was earned, on six hits while striking out six and walking four in 4.0 innings of work.
The two squads will take the field again Saturday at 1 p.m.
