
Women's Basketball Captures First ACC Win

Freshman Ayla Brown picked the right time to score her career-high as the Eagles forward had 18 points to lead Boston College to a 69-64 victory over Clemson in an ACC game at Conte Forum. The win was the first ACC victory of the season for the Eagles, who improved to 11-8 overall and 1-4 in the ACC. Clemson is now 9-11 and 1-4 in the ACC.
Most of Brown's point came from the foul line as she went 10-for-10 from charity stripe and hauled down eight rebounds. It was also the first time the Eagles had five players in double-figures as Sarah Marshall and Kathrin Ress each had 12 points and Beth Egnell and Kindyll Dorsey had 10 and 11 respectively.
The Eagles almost gave the game to Clemson as they led at the half, 40-23. Clemson went on a 15-4 run to start the half. The Eagles also helped the Tigers offensively as they turned the ball over five times in the offensive spurt by Clemson.
With 5:57 to play, Clemson tied the game eon a jumper by D'Lesha Lloyd. After two clutch free throws by Kaydia Kentish, Lloyd tied the game on a jumper at the top of the key with 5:21 to play. BC went up 62-60 on a fall-away jumper by Kindyll Dorsey.
The Eagles pulled away, 64-61, on a jumper by Marshall at 4:02. A three-pointer by Susan Yenser tied the game at 64-64 at 2:05 but it set up a huge bucket by Dorsey. The Eagles worked the ball around and spotted Dorsey in the corner, the senior nailed the baseline 3-ball for a 67-64 lead. Brown then grabbed a huge rebound off a Clemson miss and nailed two free throws to seal the victory.
BC had a strong first half as Brown notched 12 of her 18 points in the half. The Eagles pulled away from Clemson in the final 9:35 of the half with a 21-4 run. Brown had eight of her points in the run and Egnell had five points.
The Eagles next game is on Thursday, when the Eagles travel to Georgia Tech for a 7 p.m. tilt.
