Storrs, Conn. - Sophomore Sarah Feldman tallied her fourth multi-goal game of the season as she notched two goals, including the gamewinner as the Eagles defeated the Connecticut Huskies on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles (15-9-4, 13-3-1 Hockey East) won the game, 4-0, as freshman goalie, Johanna Ellison recorded her second shutout of the year. This marked the third and final regular-season match up between the two teams, with the Eagles taking all three decisions.
Feldman scored first for the Eagles as she notched her first goal at 2:47 in the first off a pass from defenseman Cristin Stuart. Stuart has now tallied at least one point in the last four games for the Eagles.
The Eagles would score again six minutes later as junior Michelle Lombardi notched her first goal and first point of the season off a pass from classmate Krystal Strassman. Feldman would strike again in the first period with her second goal of the game at 18:29 as she scored off passes from leading scorer Deborah Spillane and freshman Meghan Fardelmann.
After tough defense by both teams in the second, the Eagles entered the third period sitting on a 3-0 cushion.
In the third period, neither team could find the net until senior Nancy Gillis scored an empty-net goal at 19:58 for her third goal of the season to make the final score 4-0.
The Eagles return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. as they take on host Harvard University in the Beanpot championship. This will be the Eagles ninth trip to the Beanpot finals as they look to capture their first title.
