Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Coming off of a hard fought five game win against Virginia Tech, the Eagles wasted little time in taking down the University of Maryland tonight at Power Gym. The win is the second in a row for the Eagles and it improves their ACC record to 3-2.
In game one, the Eagles got off to a slow start trailing 5-2. But, BC would rally in a big way winning 18 out of the next 26 points to take a 20-12 lead. Maryland would bounce back cutting the Eagles lead to 23-20. However, strong serving helped the Eagles close out the Terrapins as they would win seven out of the last 10 points for the game one victory.
In game two, the Eagles started quickly winning the first four points. But, Maryland fought back tying the match at 15-15 halfway through the contest. The Terrapins would rally winning 10 out of the next 15 points to take a 25-20 lead. Trailing 27-21, BC would win nine out of the last 10 points, seven of which came on senior Allison Anderson's serve, to complete a great comeback and take game two 30-28.
BC would again start well in game three quickly taking a 13-4 lead. Maryland would cut BC's deficit to three, 21-18, after a block by Jade Brown, one of her four for the match. But, BC would not falter winning nine out of the next 13 points to sweep the Terrapins in three games.
Maryland was led by junior outside hitter Jade Brown who tallied 13 kills and nine digs.
Junior Kelsey Johnson led the attack for the Eagles with 15 kills. Sophomore setter Brittany Pierpont also played well recording 34 assists.
BC will look to continue their winning ways as they are back in action on Friday when they take on Clemson University at 6:00 p.m. in Power gym.
