
Men's Swimming and Diving Edges Rival Boston University

Boston, Mass. - The 200 freestyle relay team earned a victory in the last event of the evening propelling Boston College to a victory over rival Boston University 153-146 in Boston.
Andrew Faughnan, Daniel Kollar, Robert Swaninger, and Matt Northrup won the 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:26.44, clinching the Eagles' come-from-behind victory. Their time was also a BC all-time dual meet best.
The final relay victory was set up by Tommy Chandler and Colin Scott, who swept the top two spots in the 200 yard individual medley. Chandler took the win in 2:01.35, while Scott finished closely behind at 2:01.95. Their clutch performance narrowed the Eagles' deficit to only two points, and put the relay team into a better position to win the meet.
The relay members also had strong individual performances. Northrup and Kollar finished 1-2 in the 50 yard freestyle with times of 21.97 and 22.34, respectively. In the 100 yard freestyle, Northrup's 47.79 was second only to Faughnan's winning time of 47.73. Faughnan also took his second individual victory of the night in the 100 butterfly with a 53.39.
Earlier in the meet, Thomas Nececkas notched BC's first event victory of the night with a 55.05 in the 100 yard backstroke. Michael Cartwright took the victory in the 200 yard event with a time of 1:59.54. Both performances were dual-meet season bests.
In total, the Eagles had an astounding fifteen season-best performances.
The Eagles will be back in action this Friday and Saturday, January 27-28, in a two-day meet at the University of Maine.
