In one of the most dramatic races of the rowing season, Rhode Island edged Boston College by less than one second in the varsity-eight race at Saturday's Resolute Cup on the Narrow River in North Kingstown, R.I.
URI finished the race in 7 minutes, 34.14 seconds, and BC's boat came in at 7:35.04. Both crews defeated MIT by more than 30 seconds.
The Eagles' second varsity eight won its race, defeating URI's boat by more than five seconds. BC had the first two boats in the varsity-four race.
BC will compete in the Knecht Cup in Camden, N.J. next weekend. The team's varsity eight finished second in the event last season.
