BC vs. Minnesota | BC vs. Oregon State
Fullerton, Calif. - Boston College dropped a pair of games on the final day of the Worth Invitational at Cal State Fullerton. The Eagles fell to Minnesota, 3-2, and to Oregon State, 6-4. With the losses, the Eagles are 7-10 on the season.
In the first game, Boston College climbed back from a 3-0 deficit but couldn't pull out the comeback victory, scoring two runs in the sixth but running out of time. After allowing two runs on two hits in the first and one run on one hit and an error in the fourth, the Eagles got two of their own in the sixth. With two outs, Jenna Macchi (Milford, Mass.) and Britney Thompson (Bountiful, Utah) drew back-to-back walks. Both crossed the plate on an Ashley Obrest (Elmwood Park, Ill.) double.
In the nightcap, the Eagles squandered a 4-0 lead to Oregon State, losing 6-4 in eight innings. Boston College pushed three runs across in the first and added another in the second, but gave up one in the third, two in the fourth, and one in the seventh as Oregon State would tie the game in regulation. The Eagles gave up two runs in the eighth for the final 6-4 loss. Thompson collected two of BC's 12 hits, knocking in three runs. Macchi and Lisa Field (Encinitas, Calif.) both had two hits apiece.
Boston College will next play at UC-Riverside Tuesday afternoon.
