Game 1 vs LMU Box | Game 2 vs LMU Box
Los Angeles, Calif. - Boston College dropped a pair of doubleheader games against Loyola Marymount Wednesday afternoon at LMU Softball Field. The Eagles fell, 12-4 in five innings and 9-3, in their final match-up of the spring break west coast trip. The Eagles are currently 9-12 on the season.
In the first game, Boston College started on a great note as Kimmy Hopkin (Dove Canyon, Calif.) belted a solo home run on the first pitch of the game. That was all for the Eagles in that opening stanza, and the Lions answered with five runs of their own to take a 5-1 lead after one inning. A single run in the second and another five runs in the third gave the Lions an 11-1 advantage after three frames. A three-run homer by Elena Ferrero (Van Nuys, Calif.) in the fourth inning cut into the lead, but the Lions ended the game early with a run in the bottom of the fifth for the 12-1 final.
In the second game, LMU went up 2-0 after one inning and broke the game open in the third inning with two home runs for a 7-0 lead. Britney Thompson (Bountiful, Utah) touched up the LMU pitching staff for a solo homer in the fourth inning to ruin the Lions' bid at a shutout. The Eagles added two more runs on four hits and four walks, but LMU added two more runs for the 9-3 final.
Boston College will be idle until March 22 when they travel to Worcester for a doubleheader at Holy Cross, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
