Hamden, Conn. - The Eagles dropped a tough game to Quinnipiac University on Tuesday night, losing by a final score of 4-3. The Eagles beat the Bobcats earlier this season, 4-3 in overtime in the Eagles season opener. BC now stands at 4-3-4 overall.
The Bobcats opened up scoring in the first period as Antoinette Maldonado scored on a power play and would eventually lead the team with two points over the course of the game. The Bobcats would score the next three goals over the next two periods.
BC tried to catch up in the third period as they scored three times throughout the period. Sophomore Sarah Feldman opened up the Eagles' scoring drive early in the third for her sixth power-play goal of the season, which now leads the team. Freshman Maggie Taverna scored her second goal of the season off of a pass from Deborah Spillane and Becky Zavisza. This was Zavisza's second assist of the night and six minutes later she scored her first goal of the night, and third point of the game. Zavisza led all scorers in the game with three points. Spillane still leads the Eagles in overall points on the season with 13.
The Eagles' freshman goaltender Johanna Ellison tallied 16 saves over the course of the game including eight in the second period. Boston College outshot the Bobcats 45-20 but the Bobcats went 3 for 9 on the power play while the Eagles went 2 for 7.
