Worcester, Mass. - Kristen Madden (Concord, N.H.) scored a goal and added an assist to lead the No. 16 Boston College field hockey team to a 2-0 win over Holy Cross Sunday afternoon in Worcester. The Eagles improve to 7-3 (1-2 ACC) on the season while Holy Cross falls to 5-6 overall.
The Eagles scored what would be the game-winning goal at the 17:30 mark of the first half when Crystal Frates (Woodstock, Vt.) took a centering pass from Madden and beat HC keeper Sony Kuhn for the 1-0 lead.
Madden then tacked on a goal of her own with less than five minutes remaining in the game to give the Eagles an insurance goal. Boston College controlled most of the game, only allowing one Holy Cross shot on the day.
Kuhn made nine saves in the cage for the Crusaders, while BC keeper Jillian Savoy (Lexington, Mass.) finished with one stop. The Eagles enjoyed a 14-1 shot advantage on the afternoon.
Boston College will next return to ACC play when it travel to Chapel Hill for a Saturday contest with No. 3 North Carolina.
