
Women's Ice Hockey Falls To Mercyhurst 4-1

Erie, Pa. - The Boston College women's ice hockey team fell to No. 7 Mercyhurst College this afternoon at the Mercyhurst Ice Center in Erie, Pa. BC goalie, Lisa Davis stopped 45 shots as the Eagles dropped the game 4-1.
In the opening period Mercyhurst (14-5-2) out-shot BC 19-4. The Eagles held the Lakers scoreless on their two power-play chances in the first.
The two teams headed into the first intermission locked at zero.
In the middle frame, the Lakers jumped on the board first. At 5:06 Teresa Marchese gave Mercyhurst a 1-0 advantage with her eleventh goal of the season. The Lakers added two more goals in the second to make the score 3-0 heading into the third.
After two periods, Davis had stopped 35 shots on goal.
Deborah Spillane cut the Laker's lead to two when she scored her ninth power-play goal of the season at 9:25 into the third. Lee-J Mirasolo earned her first assist of the year on the tally.
Mercyhurst added one more goal with less than five minutes remaining to take a 4-1 lead.
The Eagles finished the day 1-for-7 on its power-play opportunities, while the Lakers went 1-for-8 on its chances.
Davis made 45 saves, while Laura Hosier stopped 12 shots for Mercyhurst.
BC (6-13-3) will close out its series with Mercyhurst tomorrow at 1 p.m.
