
Women's Ice Hockey Edges Clarkson 1-0

Lake Placid, N.Y. - Lee-J Mirasolo scored her first collegiate goal to lift the Boston College women's ice hockey team to a 1-0 win over Clarkson University (6-6-4) on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles earned their fifth win of the season in front of a crowd of 1,257 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y.
BC (5-11-1) came out strong in the opening period by dominating both sides of play. The Eagles had scoring chances in the first with nine shots on goal. Alison Quandt stopped 11 shots for the Eagles in the frame.
Halfway into the second period, BC capitalized on a one-on-two opportunity in Clarkson's zone. Kerri Sanders fed Mirasolo who cut left, then pulled right and went top corner from the center of circle to beat the Golden Eagle's goalie. Sanders earned her ninth assist of the season on the tally. Jill McInnis also assisted on the goal for her first of the year.
Quandt was unbeatable for the remainder of play. The junior made 17 saves in the final two periods to give her 28 on the night. The shutout is Quandt's second of the season. Clarkson out-shot the Eagles 28-18 on the game.
BC finished the day 0-for-2 on its power-play chances, while Clarkson went 0-for-5 on its opportunities.
BC will close out its two game series with Clarkson at Lake Placid tomorrow evening at 6 p.m.
