Waltham, Mass. -- The Boston College field hockey team posted its second shutout win in as many days, beating Vermont, 6-0, in the BC Invitational Sunday afternoon at the Bentley College Turf Field in Waltham, Mass. With the victory, Boston College improves to 3-1 on the early season. The Catamounts are 0-3.
Boston College stormed out of the gates early, scoring two goals within the first 10 minutes of action. The Eagles jumped out to a 5-0 lead at intermission and added a final goal in the second half. The Eagles scored four of their six goals on the penalty corner play.
Junior Sabrina Lazzari (Weston, Mass.) scored two goals, capping off a five-goal weekend. Bronwen Kelly (Mississauga, Ontario), Kristen Madden (Concord, N.H.), Kerri Doherty (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Tara Fernandes (Mississauga, Ontario) all added a single goal. Kelly chipped in with two assists.
In the first game of the invitational, Lock Haven blanked Radford, 5-0, behind a pair of goals from Rebecca Steffen. The Eagles return to action Friday when they host Virginia at 7:00 p.m.
