Volleyball Battles To Beat Brown 3-2

The Boston College volleyball team came from behind to beat Brown University (1-6) tonight in its first match of the Brown Invitational. The Eagles took the match 3-2 to improve to 7-6 on the season.
The Eagles completed 16 kills on 44 attempts in the first game of the match but it wasn't enough as the Brown Bears took the game 30-22.
BC rebounded in game two by taking the game 32-30 from Brown. Captain Verena Rost continued to control the Eagle offense. The junior recorded 41 assists and a team-high 20 digs in the match.
The Eagles continued their dominant play in game three. Sophomores Alison Shepp and Lia Krautmanis came up very big for BC defensively. Shepp made six blocks including two solos, while converting 13 kills on 34 attempts for an attacking percentage of .265. Krautmanis registered five block assists and one block solo in the match. The Eagles beat the Brown Bears in game three 31-29.
Brown battled back in game four to force a decisive game five. The Brown Bears took game four 30-23.
The Eagles would not give up the fight in the fifth game. The team completed 10 kills on 18 attempts for an attacking percentage of .389 and won the final game 15-9.
Katie Andersen continued her consistent play as she recorded her third consecutive double-double. The senior registered a game-high 17 kills and added 10 kills in the match.
BC will continue play in the Brown Invitational on Saturday, September 25 against Albany at 10 a.m. The Eagles will close out the tournament at 4 p.m. against Saint Peter's College.
