Waltham, Mass. -- The Boston College field hockey team bounced back and registered a win with a 1-0 shutout of cross-town rival Boston University Sunday afternoon at the Bentley College Turf Field in Waltham, Mass. With the win, Boston College improves to 4-2 on the season. The Terriers are 1-3.
The game's lone goal came with 8:11 left to play in the first half. Junior Sabrina Lazzari (Weston, Mass.) took a cross from classmate Sara York (Watertown, Mass.) and found the back of the net, giving BC enough for the win. The score was Lazzari's eighth of the year.
The Eagles outshot (13-4) and outcornered (10-7) Boston University. The Terriers made a strong attack at goal down the stretch, drawing two penalty corners, but coming up empty as BC goalkeeper Jillian Savoy (Lexington, Mass.) made two of her four saves down the stretch. BU's Erin Prediger (Telford, Pa.) collected nine saves on the afternoon.
The Eagles return to action Wednesday in their first road game, a 4:00 p.m. start at Northeastern.
