Men's Swimming And Diving Tops Rhode Island 178-113

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College men's swimming and diving team earned its fourth win of the season on Sunday afternoon in Chestnut Hill. Tim Tully won three individual events to lead the Eagles to a 178-113 victory over the University of Rhode Island. On the day, BC took nine first place finishes in the 16 events.
The team of Tully, Brandon Twichell, Thomas Martz, and Matt Northrup started off the meet strong with a win in the 400 medley relay. The Eagles finished more than two seconds before URI at 3:38.06.
Tully had another impressive meet. The senior won both the 100 and 200 butterfly with times of 54.42 and 1:57.41 respectively. Tully did not let up in the 400 individual medley with another first place finish at 4:17.13.
Brandon Twichell also swam well for the Eagles. The senior finish just behind Tully in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:22.10 and took a second place finish in the 200 free at 1:49.47. Twichell captured a win in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:14.78.
The Eagles dominated both of the backstroke events. BC finished in the top-three in the 100. Michael Cartwright won the heat with a time of 56.77 and Brian Tichenor and Brad O'Brien rounded out the top-three with times of 58.50 and 58.72 respectively. In the 200, Brian Nececkas took home the victory at 2:03.95, while O'Brien finished third with a time of 2:05.48.
BC closed out the meet with a win in the 200 freestyle relay. The team of David Herman, Andrew Faughnan, Thomas Martz, and Matt Northrup touched out Rhode Island to earn the victory for the Eagles. BC finished with a winning time of 1:30.21.
Christopher Wilson-Byrne continued his impressive performance on the one-meter board. The sophomore won the event with 235.23 points.
BC (4-2) will travel to Providence, R.I. on Tuesday, November 9 to face the Friars at 6 p.m.
