
Women's Hockey Defeated By UNH, 6-1

Women's Hockey took a 6-1 loss to #7 ranked UNH on Sunday. The loss drops BC to -4-0 on the season and this is their first Hockey East decision. UNH preserves their undefeated record (5-0-0) and improves to 2-0-0 in the Hockey East.
UNH struck first nearly six minutes into the game. Freshman defenseman Andi Hanley took a pass from Jackie Wedster and buried it in the net. Taylor Palazeti was also credited with an assist on the play.
UNH extended its lead to two when Jessica Zefara got the puck by BC goalie Alison Quandt in an unassisted effort.
BC's first goal came at 17:29 in the first period. UNH had two in the box, opening up a three-on-five opportunity. Colleen Harris took a pass from Kerri Sanders and took it around the net. Sanders found Sarah Feldman in the kill zone and she put the puck five-hole on UHN goaltender Melissa Bourdon.
The second period saw UNH tally two more goals. Nicole Hekle notched a goal to put UNH up 3-1. She was assisted by Stephanie Jones and Lindsey Caleo.
To extend their lead to three, the Wildcats called up Leah Craig. She scored off of a dish from Becky Peters.
BC went into the second intermission down 4-1 and being out-shot 17-9.
The third saw UNH pull ahead for good. UNH's Zefara scored her second of the afternoon on a rebound from a Jennifer Hitchcock attempt. With about two minutes remaining, Craig scored to ice the victory, 6-1.
BC goaltender Alison Quandt made 20 saves on 26 UNH shots on goal. UNH goalie Melissa Bourdon made 12 saves on 13 BC shots.
The Eagles will next take the ice on Friday at Dartmouth. The game will begin at 5 p.m.
