Men's Swimming And Diving Defeats Brandeis

The Boston College men's swimming and diving team improved its record Wednesday night when they traveled to Waltham and defeated Brandeis University 158-116. The Eagles (2-1) won nine of the fifteen events against their interstate foe.
BC jumped out to a good start with a three second win in the 200 yard medley relay. The relay team of Tim Tully, Brandon Twichell, Thomas Martz, and Matt Northrup took the first race in a time of 1:39.2.
Twichell also swam well in the individual events, earning first place points for the Eagles in three events: the 50 yard breaststroke, 100 yard breaststroke, and 200 yard individual medley.
Martz performed nearly as impressive with first place finishes in the 50 and 100 yard butterfly events.
Also notching a first place victory in an individual event was Northrup who won the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.6.
Northrup and Martz were joined by David Herman and Andrew Faughnan for the evening's final event, the 400 yard freestyle relay. The Eagles won their second relay by over two seconds with a time of 3:17.7.
BC divers also performed well. The Eagles dominated the one meter event with Christopher Wilson-Byrne finishing first with a score of 264.2 points and Kerry Fino placing second with 178.0 points.
The Eagles have a week off before they conclude their opening stretch of four road meets. BC travels to Durham, N.H. on October 29 when it competes against New Hampshire at 5 p.m.
