Volleyball Shuts Out Providence 3-0

The Boston College volleyball team won its eighth consecutive match on the road in Providence tonight. The Eagles defeated the Friars 3-0 to help them improve to 15-7 on the season.
BC used 13 different players to shut out Providence. In game one, the Eagles completed 13 kills and committed only three errors on 22 attempts for an attacking percentage of .455. Kelsey Johnson led the Eagles on attack with eight kills on 13 attempts. The freshman also dominated from the backcourt with four service aces on the night. BC controlled game one and topped the Friars 30-16.
The Eagles maintained their composure in game two beating Providence 30-25. Setter Verena Rost continued to control the offense for BC. The junior registered a match-high 39 assists and added 10 digs on the night.
In game three, the Eagles completed 16 kills on 36 attempts to seal the victory over the Friars. Alison Shepp contributed another solid performance for the Eagles. The sophomore made seven kills on 10 attempts for an impressive .700 attacking percentage. BC topped Providence 30-21 in the final game.
BC also earned its second RichKern.com/AVCA Division I Regional Ranking of the season today. The Eagles improved from last week's 15th ranking to seventh this week in the northeast region. This is the highest ranking for the Eagles in recent program history. The RichKern.com/AVCA Division I Region Ranking takes into consideration the Rich Kern Percentage Index (RKPI) of all Division I teams, then ranks each region based on the overall ranking.
The Eagles will travel to Hamden, (Conn.) on Tuesday, October 19 to face Quinnipiac in non-conference action at 7 p.m. BC will continue its BIG EAST action on Friday, October 22 at 7 p.m. when it hosts Rutgers.
