Volleyball Shuts Down Colgate

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Volleyball (8-2) shutout Colgate on Friday, the sixth time the team has won in three games this season. Boston College is now 8-2 after the defeat of Colgate (0-9).
Boston College out-hit Colgate .347-.064 overall. The Eagles had a total of 11 service errors, but made up for lost points with eight service aces. Katie Andersen took top numbers in all areas, making nine kills, three service aces and 10 defensive digs. BC took control for the majority of the match, outscoring the Raiders 30-21, 30-15, and 30-22, respectively. Allison Anderson came out strong making five kills in the first game while the Eagles combined to hit .467.
During the second game, the Eagles dominated with Dorota Niemczewska completing five kills. Morgan Woodcock had one block and Andersen lead the team in defensive digs with six and service aces with two. Laurel Oliver led the Raiders on offense with two kills out of six attempts.
Colgate rallied back in the opening of the third game, leading the Eagles at one point 7-1. Boston College took advantage of the four serve errors the Raiders made midway through the game. The Eagles made five service errors during the third game but were able to recover the loss with a strong defense that combined for 12 digs.
The Eagles will return to Power Gym Saturday evening at 7 p.m. to play their final match of The New England Challenge against Towson University.
