CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - In its last home game of the 2002-03 season, the Boston College women's hockey team (12-15-3, 2-8-3 Hockey East) suffered a tough, 4-0, loss to conference rival University of Maine (10-13-4, 3-7-2 HE).
The day began with a ceremony to honor five Eagle seniors. The Senior Day festivities honored Alexis Moed, Thia Connolly, Jaclyn Kryzak and Genevieve Richardson for their dedication and contributions to the Boston College women's hockey program.
After the ceremony, the five seniors stepped on the ice, for the first face-off, together. The University of Maine put a hold on the celebration, as Karen Droog scored a breakaway goal just 2:50 into the game. The Black Bears went up, 2-0, before the close of the session, when Jarin Sjogren beat BC netminder Lisa Davis.
Maine scored one more goal in each of the following two periods. Andrea Steranko tallied the third goal, and Droog added the fourth on an empty-netter, her second goal of the game. Nicole Munro had two assists for the Black Bears, and goaltender Dawn Froats made 12 saves.
Davis made 17 saves in the BC net.
Boston College will travel to Durham, N.H. next weekend for its final two regular season contests against the University of New Hampshire.
