Women's Hockey Falls To Princeton, 8-0

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Boston College women's ice hockey team dropped its seventh straight decision today against Princeton, 8-0, at Hobey Baker Rink. The Eagles fall to 3-8-0 overall and 0-5-0 in Hockey East play while Princeton improves to 7-3-0 and 2-1-0 in ECAC action.
The Eagles gave up five first-period goals. Princeton's Heather Jackson started the scoring early, firing a shot that trickled through Eagle goaltender Christine Moynihan at 4:33 in the first period. Less than a minute later, Katharine Maglione scored on a wrist shot from the left point.
Two Boston College penalties set up a five-on-three advantage that the Tigers would capitalize on. Gretchen Anderson tallied a power-play goal when she received a pass from Susan Hobson through the crease to build a three-goal lead at 8:34. Sarah Greer and Kim Pearce also added goals in the first. Greer scored on backhand in front of the net and Pearce beat Moynihan top shelf at 15:29 to round out the first period scoring.
Moynihan tallied 28 saves on the day for Boston College.
The Eagles and Tigers were held scoreless during a penalty-riddled second period.
After 12 minutes of scoreless action in the third, Princeton would put two goals on the board less than a minute apart. Susan Hobson scored on a slapshot at 12:53 and Anderson tallied her second score of the day 52 seconds later. The Tigers would tally one more goal as Lisa Rasmussen scored at 17:35.
Boston College returns to the ice and conference play in a two game series against the Providence College. The Eagles and Friars will play in Providence on Saturday and square off Sunday, December 7 at Kelley Rink. Both games are set for 2 p.m.
