Women's Ice Hockey Falls To Connecticut

STORRS, Conn. - Boston College women's ice hockey lost their third Hockey East match of the season at Connecticut Saturday afternoon 3-1. With the loss, BC moves to 3-5-0 this season.
Sarah Courtney scored the only BC goal, unassisted in the first period. Connecticut already had one on the board and when Courtney's third goal of the season tied the game up. The second period was scoreless for both teams. UConn's Shannon Connolly notched the game winner, and Jacquelyn McGuire landed the final puck past Lisa Davis just two minutes later.
The Huskies outshot the Eagles 41-27. Davis had 38 saves, the majority of shots taken in the third period (38). BC was able to keep UConn from scoring during 16 shorthanded minutes. The Eagles pulled the goalie with 2:33 remaining but were not able to capitalize with six players on the ice.
The Eagles will host Connecticut for round two on Sunday afternoon. The Hockey East conference game is set for 2 p.m. on Kelley Rink.
