Volleyball Blows Out Sacred Heart

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Boston College volleyball (13-5) played their most outstanding match of the season Wednesday night against Sacred Heart University (1-21) down in Fairfield, CT. The Eagles finished the three-game match in just one hour and 11 minutes.
BC combined for a season high of 14 service aces. Verena Rost led the team with six aces, Katie Andersen right behind her with four. Dorota Niemczewsk played big offense, making 10 kills on 24 attempts.
Alison Shepp, Morgan Woodcock and Shardai Davis also made big contributions to the win, landing a total of 20 kills. Woodcock led the team in attack percentage, hitting .600 on the court. Shepp hit .455 on her shots. BC only hit .222 as at team, but the individual performances weighed in heavy favor of the Eagles.
On defense, BC dug out 28 of the Pioneers shots. Caitlin Azhderian and Lauren Lamb each had five kills. The Eagles were able to keep the Pioneers team hitting percentage to .000. BC was able to capitalize on errors by Sacred Heart. SHU had 22 attack errors, 13 service errors and one blocking error that help put the Eagles on top.
The Eagles are off from competition until Wednesday, October 15, when they will host Quinnipiac. BC will take on the Bobcats in Power gym at 8 p.m.
