Volleyball Defeated By Villanova

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Volleyball (16-7, 3-4 BIG EAST) dropped the first conference match of two this weekend, to Villanova (10-13, 4-4 BIG EAST) in three straight games Friday night.
The Wildcats came out on to the court and took control of the match right away. Both teams recorded 13 kills on offense in game one, but VU held the Eagles to an attack percentage of .085. Allison Anderson notched four of those kills for BC, while Liz Aron helped out on defense and dug five balls in round one. Villanova outscored BC 30-21.
Shardai Davis made an outstanding effort in Power Gym. Her four kills in game two led the Eagles, and was affective all around the rotation. Villanova came out for the second with an attack of .275, making 16 kills and six block assists. The Eagles rallied for 11 kills but were again beat out 30-23.
Game three was a complete turnaround for the Eagles. Dorota Niemczewska came out right away, scoring a few early points to give BC the lead. Villanova quickly caught up and game three was neck-and-neck for the remainder. Davis again made the impact offensively, notching another six kills and combing with Alison Shepp for a block assist. Katie Andersen helped the team from the backcourt with her defensive efforts, making five digs in the final game. The Eagles pushed Villanova all the way passed the 30 point mark, eventually dropping the match to a Celine Nguyen kill, 33-31.
Shepp led the Eagle offense Friday night, scoring a total of 13 kills, with one block solo and two block assists. Davis had 10 kills overall with three block assists. Boston College hit .163 overall and had eight team blocks.
The Eagles will return to Power Gym on Sunday, November 2, when they host their final match of the season. BC will take on the Georgetown Hoyas at 2 p.m.
