Virginia Tech knotted up the game - at 2-2 - in the next half inning when Amy Voorhees hit the team's third home run of the doubleheader with a shot to left field. Hurt struck again in the sixth inning, this time homering down the left field line to push the score to 4-2.
Lisa Field added to the day's home run total with a shot over the left field fence in the bottom of the sixth inning to bring the Eagles within one run, 4-3.
