CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College dropped a pair of BIG EAST games to first-place Notre Dame, 4-3 and 8-2, at Shea Field on Saturday. The Irish's leadoff hitter - Jenny Kriech - went 5-for-8 on the day including a 4-for-4 performance in the second game.
In the first contest, Notre Dame scored all of their runs in the top of the second before the Eagles mounted a rally in the bottom of the seventh. The Eagles Kim Ryan walked the bases loaded, then hit Megan Coilli to drive in a run. An Andrea Loman single plated two runs. Jarrah Myers and Andria Bledsoe walked in back-to-back at-bats and brought in the final run for the Irish.
Cara Blumfield's eighth home run of the season gave the Eagles their first run in the bottom of the fourth then set the team up for its late-game rally. She led off the seventh with a single then Lisa Fischer reached on an error. After Blumfield was tagged out at third on a Michelle Daly fielder's choice, Lisa Field loaded the bases with a single through the right side. Elyse Meredith stepped up with a double to the gap in right center to bring in Fischer and Daly and pull the Eagles within one run. But with two outs, the Eagles were unable to drive in any more runners.

Carrie Wisen pitched the final 2.2 innings to allow two runs on three hits with two strikeouts. Ryan went 2.0 innings and allowed four runs on three hits. She struck out four and walked five. Daly relived her in the third and allowed one hit with one strikeout.
In the second game, the Irish jumped right on the board in the first inning with two runs. Kriech started the game with a single through the left side, then Ciolli reached on a fielding error of her sac bunt. Loman was walked an a run scored on a wild pitch, then Myers lofted a sac fly to left field for the 2-0 lead.
ND added three more runs in the third on a two-run Myer's blast to left center and Liz Hartmann's solo shot to left center.
BC put two on the board in the bottom of the frame. Field and Leah Kamataris fought off multiple pitches to earn walks on 3-2 counts and put two runners on base with no outs. A Jen Asbury double to straight-away center brought in Kamataris and Mackey, who reached on a fielder's choice.
Notre Dame responded by matching the Eagles' two runs in the fourth. With the bases loaded, Myers and Bledsoe both singled in runs.
Kriech's home run over the right field fence gave the Irish their final run of the game in the seventh.
