Volleyball Dominates Sacred Heart

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College volleyball team (12-11) extended their winning streak to four matches by dominating the Sacred Heart Pioneers (1-20) three games to none Wednesday night in Power Gymnasium. Senior Rachel Bach led all players with 15 kills.
The Eagles began slowly, trailing in the first game, but rallied to win, 30-22. Boston College gained confidence and composure as the match progressed and handled the Pioneers in the second contest, 30-18. Pulling it all together, the home squad dominated the court in the third game, allowing the visitors only six points. Freshman Emily Stegner commanded the game, as her team scored nine consecutive points behind her serve.
Bach led the Eagles with 15 kills for a .480 hitting percentage, while teammate Katie Andersen played brilliantly on the defensive side of the ball, gathering 12 digs. Overall, the Eagles hit for a .310 percentage, while forcing the Pioneers to -.048.
Boston College will return to BIG EAST competition as it takes on Rutgers University, Friday Oct. 25 at 7:30 in Power Gymnasium.
