
Baseball Takes Two Games Over LaSalle

BOCA RATON, Fla. - - Boston College had 25 hits on the day to defeat LaSalle 7-2 and 11-4 in a doubleheader Sunday March 11 in Boca Raton, Fla. The Eagles have won eight consecutive games and rise to 9-5 while dropping LaSalle to 1-5-1.
Mark Sullivan pitched 2.0 innings of relief to post his first win of the season (1-1) in BC's 7-2 decision. He took over after Matt Lederhos threw 6.0 innings, surrendering one earned run on five hits with five strikeouts.
With the score tied at two in the eighth, Jeff Mackor walked to push across the game-winning run, and Brian Durkin and Ryan Leahy each connected on RBI singles. Matt Duffey also posted a sacrifice fly in that frame as the Eagles took the 6-2 lead.
Brian Durkin hit three-fourths of a cycle, including his fourth home run in eight days, to lead BC to the 11-4 victory in game two. The Explorers posted four runs in the third thanks to Jim Fuch's two-run single to give LaSalle the 4-2 advantage. BC responded with five runs in the fourth inning when Chris Rosado had a two-run single, and Leahy and Mike Hubbard each drove in runs to give BC the 7-4 edge.
Chris Gannon threw seven strikeouts in his second-consecutive outing for the victory. The senior southpaw allowed four runs on four hits.
BC visits Virginia Tech for a three-game series March 17-18.
