STORRS, Conn. (AP ) - Boston College still has at least one more test left in the conference, but the No. 19 Eagles couldn't help but peek ahead to the NCAA.
The Eagles advanced to the semifinals of the Big East tournament Sunday with a 74-52 win over Georgetown. Their 25-7 record is the most wins in school history and just might land them a fourth seed when the NCAA tournament pairings are announced next Sunday.
"Twenty-five wins means a lot," said BC coach Cathy Inglese. "Hopefully, they'll take that into account."
The fourth seed in the NCAA regionals play the first two games at home.
"I want to play at home again," said sophomore forward Becky Gottstein, who had been sidelined for six weeks with a stress fracture in her right ankle. The team's leading rebounder returned to the lineup on Saturday for the Eagles first-round win over West Virginia.
In two games, Gottstein has 16 rebounds and 25 points. She was averaging 10 before the injury.
The Eagles advance to the semifinals of the Big East tournament for the first time since 1990 and will play top-ranked Connecticut, and 85-41 winner over over St. John's.
Still remaining in the tournament are No. 6 Notre Dame and No. 8 Rutgers.
"If we start beating more teams in the top 10 or five, we'll start getting attention, said Cal Bouchard, who had 18 points on Sunday.
Alissa Murphy led the Eagles on Sunday with 19 points. She also had four steals.
Murphy's 3-pointer with 11:20 left in the first half started a 20-7 run to give the Eagles a 30-10 lead.
The Hoyas had just one field goal - a Dani Illic 3-pointer - in the first seven minutes. BC got 23 points off 25 turnovers.
Katie Smrcka-Duffy led the Hoyas (17-12) with 20.
