Boston College Game Quotes
Tom O'Brien, Head Coach
Overall
"This was a great win for this football team. Those kids played very hard. We knew coming in and we talked about-- Playing 60 minutes of hard nosed, physical football. Don't turn the football over. Be sound in what we do. We ended up on the winning end today and we're very happy."
"There was just a feeling on this football team this week. I think they really look forward to this game. I had a good feeling all week about this game. As the week went on I just thought that we were going to be able to win this football game."
"I'm not going to say it was pretty. I know we have a long way to go in some areas, but its a victory and that's all that counts."
"The emotion of this team right now is high. This was a big win for this team."
"They turned the ball over four times and that's the difference in the game. We didn't turn the football over and we only had two penalties this whole game. Penalties and turnovers were the key to this game for us, and hanging in there and making them make plays."
On the Syracuse Defense
"I'm going to tell you this, that's the best defensive football team we have played this year. I mean, they have good people on defense. They have great cover people. They tackle you. They have great rush ends. That's the best defense we've seen. We couldn't get a lot going today."
On the Boston College Defense "Once we got them off schedule and got them into third down situations the advantage came to us. We got them in some third down situations and they weren't able to make things happen."
Ralph Parent, Strong Safety
"I'm not going to forget this day, I got my first career pick. I don't know what to do with myself."

Syracuse Post Game Quotes
Paul Pasqualoni, head coach
On his team's performance vs. BC
"In the first half of the game, we didn't play really well defensively, we had real problems stopping their running game and we missed a couple of scoring opportunities. The pick of Troy hurt us. BC has done really well in terms of turnover margin-they were plus-five coming in and they won that battle today, and that was a good part of it. I thought we settled down a little bit defensively in the second half. We stopped their run game, but we gave up a couple of big plays and that really, really hurt us."
On Shafer's 4th quarter 34-yard missed field goal
"We had a good try to kick a field goal, but with hindsight being 20/20, right now I'd say let's go for it on fourth down because we didn't get the field goal. There was still almost five minutes to go in the game and we had three timeouts. The way we were playing defense at the time, I was confident that we were going to get the ball back. We just needed to get in one more good drive and maybe get it into overtime again. I think in big games, if there are no big special-teams plays than it'll usually be a factor in the game, and it probably was."
On Troy Nunes' first INT
"We ran what we call a corner out, and the guy jumped under the ball. He just made the play on that one, that's all."
On Nunes' third INT "Pat was wide open in the corner of the endzone. He was wide open the way I saw it. It was just a poorly thrown ball."
Defensive end Duke Pettijohn
"We had to go out there and get the ball back, and we did. It's really frustrating. This was a BIG EAST Conference game that we needed to win, and we didn't. It's a real setback, and it's really disappointing."
"Conference games are real important. So, it was important for us to get our first conference win. We beat some other teams, but we have to beat people in the conference. Today was a very big deal."
