
Belle Smith Named USA Lacrosse Preseason Midfielder of the Year

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Senior Boston College lacrosse midfielder Belle Smith was named the USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Midfielder of the Year, as announced today.Â
Smith was named to the USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-First Team yesterday.
The Westhampton Beach native was named the ACC Midfielder of the Year in 2023, helping the Eagles to an ACC title, a 19-4 record and a sixth straight appearance in the national semifinals and national championship.Â
Smith was a consensus first-team All-American in 2023, finishing third on the team with 52 goals, while her career-high 31 assists were good for second on the squad. She tied her personal best with 83 points and was the only player in the nation with at least 50 goals, 30 assists, 30 ground balls, 25 draw controls and 15 caused turnovers.
She enters the 2024 season ninth all-time in points (231),10th in goals (231), and eighth in assists (77). One of the top two-way midfielders in the game, she was a top-25 Tewaaraton award finalist.
Boston College recently had nine Eagles named preseason USA Lacrosse Preseason All-Americans. The Eagles open the season up on Friday, February 9th against UMass at 4 p.m. in Fish Field House.Â
