BC HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Boston College moved to 10-15 in the all-time series between the two squads on Wednesday evening. The Crimson are the only opponent that the Eagles have played every single year since first becoming a varsity program in 1992 and the 25 matchups between the two squads is the most ever against a single opponent. The 22 matchups between the Eagles and Holy Cross are the second most on that list. With the victory, the Eagles have now won five of the last six matchups with the Crimson.
- With the win, the Eagles have now won 10+ games in each of the last eight years and ninth time overall in the team's 25 years as a varsity program. Their record against Ivy League opponents in 2016 finished at 3-0 while the non-conference record improves to 8-1.
- With her three goals in the game, Sarah Mannelly moved into third place in the program's all-time goal list, surpassing Kristin Igoe's mark of 168 career goals set between 2008 and 2012. With three assists this evening, Mannelly upped her season total to 29, which moves her into sole possession of fifth most in a single season all-time at BC.
- With six goals and an assist, junior Kate Weeks surpassed the 50-point mark for her career. She set career highs in both points (7) and goals (6).
- Making her second start of the season, senior Kate Rich recorded three goals, which was a new career high, while she matched a career high with three points.
- With six assists, Kenzie Kent tied for second most assists in a single game all-time for the Eagles. Only Lauren Costello has registered more assists in a single game, when she recorded nine assists against Iona on April 7, 2010. With her seven points this evening, Kent too surpassed the 50-point career mark, doing so in only 15 games. She became the fifth player on the current roster to reach that milestone.
- Additionally, Mannelly matched a career high with three caused turnovers while Mary Kensinger, making her second straight start, matched a career high with two draw controls.
TURNING POINT
- BC used a 5-1 run in the first 15 minutes and a second run of five straight goals shortly after to take complete control as they beat the Crimson, 16-9, Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Boston College got on the board first when Kate Weeks converted a pass from Kenzie Kent for the game's first goal at 26:33.
- Two minutes later, the Eagles began a scoring frenzy that saw two goals in a span of one minute. Kate Rich scored on a feed from Sarah Mannelly before Rich followed through again on the next possession on a Kate Weeks feed.
- After a Harvard goal, BC scored two straight. Rich added another goal with an assist to Kent before Weeks scored her third on an additional helper from Kent.
- The maroon and gold began a streak of five straight goals that pushed the Eagles lead to 10-2 with 6:75 remaining in the first half. During that span, BC recorded a pair of goals from both Sarah Mannelly and Caroline Margolis while Kenzie Kent notched a lone goal. They went into the break with an 10-4 lead.
- The Crimson tallied the first two goals of the half to cut the lead to six, but the Eagles responded with two more. First, Lauren Frankenfield tallied her third goal of the season on an assist from Sarah Mannelly before Kate Weeks converted her fourth of the game, a goal that Kent registered her sixth assist of the game on.
- After Harvard tallied two goals late, a misdirected pass from Tess Chandler skipped off the stick of Kate Weeks and found the back of the goal for the Eagles 16th goal of the night with 29 seconds left in the contest.
