BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior guard Nicole Boudreau and senior forward Alexa Coulombe were honored prior to the game as part of Senior Day. Boudreau recorded eight points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals.
- Freshman Mariella Fasoula led the team in points (15) and rebounds (eight).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Orange opened the game with a 5-0 run and used a stingy full court press to force four turnovers in the quarter. The Eagles answered with a 7-0 run with Syracuse responding with one of its own. After both teams exchanged baskets, BC closed the quarter on a 7-0 run capped off by a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Boudreau to make it 22-21 Orange after one.
- After a free-throw from freshman Mariella Fasoula tied it for the Eagles, Syracuse took off on a 5-0 run. Boston College would use a 7-2 run to pull even with the Orange at 29 with 6:46. However, that would be the last bucket the Eagles would score in the quarter as Syracuse scored 10 unanswered to take a 39-29 lead into the break.
- A three from the Orange's Brianna Butler was the only points of the quarter until Fasoula sank a pair of free throws with 4:59 remaining. That would spark Boston College, as the team went on a 10-3 run, fueled by eight points from Hughes to pull within six. However, Syracuse's full-court press once again stymied the Eagles, with the Orange running off five points unanswered to close the quarter.
- After trading buckets for the first couple minutes, Syracuse raced out on a 14-0 run to increase the lead to 69-47, putting the game out of reach.
