Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Sophomore Hadrien Toure scored a hat trick as the Boston College men's soccer team remained undefeated in its last five games by topping St. Peter's 5-0 at Newton Campus Field.
The Eagles (4-1-1, 0-0-1) put some early pressure on St. Peter's (2-5), but were not able to break through until the 41st minute when Toure put the Eagles on the board. Freshman Reuben Ayarna set up the play with a feed to Sherron Manswell who found Toure for his first goal of the season.
Nearly two minutes later, Toure struck again by sneaking through the St. Peter's defense, gathering a spectacular pass from Manswell and firing it into the lower right corner.
Toure capped his fine performance early in the second half with some help from freshman Mike Konicoff. Konicoff eluded defenders with breathtaking footwork and served a cross towards Toure who earned Boston College's first hat trick since Casey Schmidt pulled one against Dartmouth on October 9, 2002.
The Eagles were not done as Ayarna collected two more assists a mere three minutes apart. At 51:44, the freshman sent a corner towards the box that was buried by Lennie McMillian for his second goal of the year.
The final goal came on a brilliant lead pass by Ayarna to a streaking Manswell who collected his sixth goal of the year, placing him one behind Maryland's Jason Garey for the league lead.
The defense was strong and limited the Peacocks to only three shots on goal. Issey Maholo stopped two shots and backup Shane Boggis preserved the shutout with one save in the final 26 minutes.
The Eagles play their first-ever home ACC contest Saturday night at 7 p.m. against fourth-ranked Virginia.
